Douglas Harman, age 91, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at his home. He was born June 18, 1933, to the late Brown Harman and Eva Catherine McGuire Harman in Tazewell, Va. Doug served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Pleasant View Methodist Church where he served as the custodian for several years.
In addition to his parents, Doug was also preceded in death by his son, Kiah Douglas Harman; and six brothers, David Harman, Litz Harman, Brown Junior Harman, John Reuben Harman, Donald Harman, and Lindsey Harman.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Pearl Marie Yates Harman; three children: Richard Randall Harman and wife, Caroline Elmendorf, of Sandy Spring, Md.; David Lee Harman, and Lori Curley, of Laurel, Md.; and Tamala Marie Hammond and husband, Robert, of Columbia, S.C.; and five grandchildren, Daniel Harman, Nathaniel Harman, Diana Harman, Julia Rose Grondell, and Catherine Elizabeth Grondell.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery, Maplewood Ln., Tazewell, Va. 24651, with Rev. Larry Toney and Rev. Barbara Farmer officiating.
