Kenneth Parice Minor

Kenneth Parice Minor, age 79, of Meadowview, Va., passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at his home. He was born April 13, 1945, to the late James Franklin Minor and Elizabeth Nanne Munsey Minor in Jonesville, Va. 

Ken was a gifted individual known for his diverse talents, ranging from cultivating vegetables and flowers to possessing remarkable building skills. His athleticism, love for music and the outdoors was shared with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed memorable hunting and fishing trips with his grandchildren from the Atlantic Coast to the Texas Gulf Coast. He supported his children and grandchildren in their various endeavors throughout his life. 

Ken was a member of Abingdon Baptist Church, where he dedicated himself to serving as a deacon and singing in the choir. He also participated in both the senior adult and children’s ministries. 

In addition to his parents, Ken was also preceded in death by his wife, Donna McPherson Minor; sister, Audrey Shults; sister-in-law, Robbin Minor; and brother-in-law, Charles Pope.

He is survived by four children, Scott Minor and wife, Sophie, of Greece; Todd Minor and wife, Karen, of Charlottesville, Va.; Jill Minor of Abingdon, Va.; and Chadd Minor and wife, Denise, of Scottsville, Va.; six siblings: Ray Minor and wife, Susie, of Abingdon, Va.; James Minor and wife, Patty, of Shelbyville, Ky.; Sam Minor of Bristol, Va.; Carolyn Pope of Carlisle, Ky.; Lois Lowe and husband, Tim, of Kingsport, Tenn.; and Frankie Minor and wife, Jamie, of Dryden, Va.; brother-in-law, Mack Shults of Hendersonville, Ky.; seven grandchildren, who were his greatest joy: Susanna Dilgert and husband, Nico, of Newland, N.C.; Zachary Harless and wife, Vanessa, of Bristol, Tenn.; Nolan Minor of Beaufort, N.C.; Gabriel Harless of Johnson City, Tenn.; Wyatt Minor of Beaufort, N.C.; Ewing Minor of Jefferson City, Tenn.; and Tyler Harless of the home.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Abingdon Baptist Church, 361 W. Main St., Abingdon, VA 24210, with the Rev. Dr. Steven W. Pollard officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.  The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

A second celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Jonesville, 33482 Main St., Jonesville, VA 24263, with the Rev. Mack Shults officiating.  A committal service will follow in the Spangler-Minor Cemetery in Jonesville, Va. where Ken’s cremated remains will be interred over his parents' graves along with a mixture of Spring bulbs.
